Plants in home

Comfort Maximized – From New Plants to Furnace Service

With winter settled in and days that seem like there’s barely any sunshine, it can be difficult to always feel like your home is a comfy place to be. That extends far beyond having annual furnace service too, because there are various things you can do to help make your home feel cozy even when your furnace is running at its best.

Here are a couple that we find particularly helpful here in Rocky Mount:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, may mean a lot of air is escaping your home. It goes without saying that the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is heading outside as well. There are a host of fixes that can help you shut those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are fairly simple fixes for homeowners to handle themselves.
  • Change your furnace filter. This is one of the most crucial things you can do to not only increase your furnace’s efficiency, but also to help save you on your energy costs. Plus, you don’t need to have your furnace service technician to do it, you can do it yourself. It’s normally recommended to swap your furnace filter every one or two months to get the most out of its benefits, but some may last even longer.
  • Get plants. Indoor plants can provide a host of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually appealing, they may likely improve your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a variety of toxins that are emitted from various common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Furnace service. This should be something that you’re already doing, but it never hurts to get a reminder. Having furnace service completed annually helps you be sure that your furnace is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be addressed so your comfort isn’t conceded.

It doesn’t have to feel hard to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 540-483-5605 or arrange an appointment online to hear about any of these suggestions or find out more about furnaces, our furnace service or anything else comfort related.
